Today I was sitting in class about my final project at school. The main issue that the presenter focused on was about time management. It made me realize that life can be looked at as a huge puzzle that is composed of several minor puzzles.
This was very interesting to me because lately I have been thinking about the enormous number of variables that affect your life on a daily basis. If you try and break down your day to action items and decision points you might come to realize that it is quite amazing that there is some mathematical order in the chaotic world we live in.
Everyone on this planet obeys the same rules of physics – we all have the same structure of life. The only difference is that we are all free (yes even slaves) to make decisions every day that can change our life dramatically.
So if drill down to our daily activates and really try to understand how we manage time – how we choose to dedicate a certain amount of time for activity A and not activity B you might figure out how you manage your life and how you might want to change how your life puzzle looks like.
Try to break your day into 15-30 minute blocks of time and dedicate certain actions for certain time blocks. You should include every single action you take – including sleeping, showering, eating, driving, going to the bathroom, alongside with the tasks you have to fulfill at work.
I think that if you take the time to do this and see how many actions you get done on a daily basis you will become very proud of yourself and how much you are able to achieve on any particular day. With that though in mind now you should look at all the tasks you were not able to fulfill and why you have demoted them to a lower priority. Try and see where you can make time to get these tasks done – or, alternatively you might want to seek additional help by outsourcing some of these tasks and delegating specific work that would be too time consuming and not worth the investment (of time) for you to do.
I think that if you really break your daily actions into time blocks and realize you are building a dynamic puzzle on a daily basis might help you better manage your time.
I know it does for me
